Gobindpuri is a tightly packed South Delhi colony between Kalkaji and the Okhla Industrial Area, with the Nehru Place office towers two metro stops away. It is mostly rented rooms and builder floors in narrow lanes, and bookings here come late, once the offices and factories close.
Gobindpuri is built close. Houses go up three and four floors on small plots, and many lanes are too tight for two cars to pass. A lot of the people living here work in the Nehru Place offices or in the export houses and workshops of Okhla Phase 1 and 2, and plenty of them rent a single room or share a floor. Giri Nagar and Govindpuri Extension spread out towards Kalkaji, and the Lotus Temple and the ISKCON temple at East of Kailash are both a short auto ride away, which makes either one a handy meeting point.
Govind Puri station is on the Violet Line, one stop past Kalkaji Mandir, where you can change to the Magenta Line. Nehru Place is two stops back towards the city. By car from our Naraina side the drive takes about fifty minutes in the evening, along the Outer Ring Road past IIT and Chirag Delhi, and nearer thirty-five minutes after 10 PM. The stretch around Nehru Place jams badly at office closing time, so before 9 PM give us an hour's notice. During Navratri the crowds at Kalkaji temple slow every road nearby, so allow extra time on those nights.
Most Gobindpuri calls are for a flat or a rented floor. Houses here rarely have a guard, but neighbours live close and the stairs are shared, so meet her at the mouth of your lane and walk up together. Give us the house number, the block and a landmark such as the nearest temple or chemist shop. Lane numbers on their own confuse drivers in this colony, and a wrong turn can cost fifteen minutes.
There are very few proper hotels inside Gobindpuri itself. If you would rather take a room, the Eros Hotel at Nehru Place and the Crowne Plaza in Okhla Phase 1 are the two closest, and at both she walks in as a guest you have invited up.
